Slap Battles uses normal Roblox movement and camera controls plus glove-specific actions. The official experience description says some abilities are passive, others use E, mobile players receive an ability button, and shift lock is recommended. Complex or Mastered gloves can add another action commonly documented as R on PC, but the live UI is the authority for each glove and platform.
Core control map
Console labels can vary with the current Roblox and game mapping, so this guide does not invent one fixed face button. Read the on-screen prompt after equipping the glove.
Camera and shift lock
Keep the opponent, your character, and the safe ground behind you visible. Camera control is a survival mechanic because a successful slap can still leave you walking toward the void. Reduce frantic full rotations; small adjustments preserve orientation.
Shift lock can make character alignment more predictable, especially for side movement and aimed approaches. Test it on the central island. Disable it when a route or device makes free camera movement easier. “Recommended” does not mean mandatory.
Slap timing
Move into range, face the target, use the primary tool action, then recover position. Avoid clicking continuously before contact; it makes the real timing hard to learn. Watch how ragdoll and immunity windows affect a follow-up.
Near an edge, attack at an angle that keeps your own momentum on safe ground. On a bridge, let the opponent commit first when possible. The Normal Arena guide applies these inputs to map decisions.
E abilities and passives
Read the current glove card. If it says passive, look for the trigger and do not search for an E button. If it has an activated ability, name the intended outcome before pressing E: movement, control, projectile, defense, setup, or state change.
Test the cooldown in safe space. Some abilities require a target, cursor direction, placed object, or current state. Mobile users should check that the button is not covered by another UI panel.
R and Mastered controls
The community Masteries page says the system introduced R for secondary abilities, allowing some gloves to have two actions. Not every Mastered glove uses R, and base gloves should not be assumed to have it.
Enable Mastered in the crown window, respawn, and read the new UI. Practice E and R separately, then learn whether they share a cooldown or state. On mobile or console, use the newly displayed button rather than translating the PC key literally.
Platform-specific practice
PC players should adjust mouse sensitivity so one controlled movement can track an opponent without losing the horizon. Mobile players can move the ability button only if Roblox/game settings allow it; otherwise practice thumb transitions in center space. Console players should keep the right stick active during recovery and check prompts after every glove switch.
All platforms benefit from a simple drill: circle a safe landmark while keeping the camera on it, slap a moving player once, use one ability with a named goal, and return to center.
Troubleshooting controls
If E does nothing, confirm the glove is equipped, the ability is not passive, cooldown is ready, the required target/state exists, and the chat field is not focused. If a mobile button is missing, close other panels, respawn, and rejoin a current server. If a console prompt differs from a guide, follow the live prompt.
If shift lock is unavailable, check Roblox settings and device support. It is optional; increase camera discipline rather than installing an external control tool. Never use a macro, key automation, or exploit to repeat ability or slap inputs.
Sources and next steps
The official Slap Battles page supports E, mobile ability buttons, passive abilities, and shift lock. The maintained Masteries page supports the R-era secondary action context, checked 2026-08-08. Continue with Beginner for the first session or Masteries for upgrade controls.
