The best first Mastery is the one that turns normal play with an owned glove into visible progress and gives a Mastered role you intend to use. It is not automatically the shortest community grind or the strongest endgame upgrade. Current discussions disagree sharply about difficulty, and the live tasks can be rebalanced.
Use a four-part filter
Ownership: you must already have the glove. A badge or boss prerequisite can make an apparently easy Mastery a poor first project.
Task fit: you should understand the glove’s base ability and be able to trigger at least one objective reliably. A narrow timing task is frustrating when the basic movement is still unfamiliar.
Natural progress: favor objectives that occur during legitimate public matches. Avoid any route that depends on arranged slap farming, macros, or repeated exploit-like behavior.
Upgrade value: read the live Mastered preview. Choose mobility, defense, control, building, or combat utility that matches how you play.
Candidate families for a first project
Placement learner
Obby, Fort, Plank, or Tycoon can suit a player who enjoys building and area control. Verify which placed actions and nearby hits count.
Mobility learner
Flash, Phase, or Acrobat can suit a player who already times movement and follow-up slaps. Platform controls matter.
Ability-hit learner
Bubble, Shard, Booster, or Cloud can suit a player who can aim a repeatable ability and confirm attribution.
Focused grind
Community documentation describes some gloves with a single main task, but the count may still be large. “One task” does not mean short.
These are choice families, not fixed recommendations. Recent player posts named Tycoon, Brick, Run, Defense, Frostbite, Killstreak, spin, Cherry, and others as personal first or easier projects, while other players ranked the same work differently. Use those reports as experience signals only.
Run a 15-minute trial
Open the crown panel and record the starting values. Play for fifteen minutes with one objective in mind, then inspect the change. Calculate progress from valid actions, not from elapsed time alone. If you can explain why each counted action worked, the project is teachable. If nothing moved, review the exact condition before committing.
Also note whether the task encourages bad play. Repeatedly forcing a risky edge interaction may complete a counter while making every match miserable. Another Mastery that grows during ordinary movement, defense, or ability use can be a better first success.
Choose by platform
PC players can use the keyboard prompts and camera control described by the current UI. Mobile players should test whether E and any secondary action buttons are comfortable while moving and aiming. Console players must follow the live button mapping rather than assuming an R-key guide translates directly.
A tight teleport-follow-up or projectile objective may be reasonable on one platform and awkward on another. That does not change the glove’s theoretical strength, but it changes the best first project for the player.
Avoid the three common traps
Chasing an S-tier reward: a powerful Mastered effect may require a glove or task far beyond the account’s current stage. Finish a teachable project first.
Equating simple with quick: one objective can contain a huge count, while several compatible objectives may progress together. Read every number live.
Farming another account: the maintained community page warns that slap farming is bannable. A Mastery objective does not grant permission to arrange repetitive Slaps.
When to switch projects
Switch when the live task differs materially from the guide, when the glove no longer suits your playstyle, or when progress requires a prerequisite you cannot currently meet. Keep the screenshot and partial progress; community documentation says progress is permanent, so returning later should be possible.
Do not switch merely because one session was slow. First determine whether the counter is working and whether a safer server or different normal-play objective improves the rate.
Confirm the finish
After all objectives complete, enable Mastered in the crown window and respawn. Test the appearance, base ability, any R action, cooldown, and movement. Compare with the base glove in the same server. If the upgrade does not appear, toggle it again and rejoin before assuming progress failed.
The Mastery List supplies task families, while the Mastery Tier List separates effort from reward. The community Masteries page and recent 2026 player discussions were checked as research references; the current in-game panel remains the authority.
